Noctua NH-D15 Dual Radiator Quiet CPU Cooler with two NH-A15 Fans

The new king of air coolers has arrived. Noctua’s new NH-D15 features two NF-A15 fans and a massive six year warranty.

Features

  1. Based on the award-winning NH-D14
  2. Widened fin stack and expanded heatpipe layout
  3. Dual NF-A15 140mm fans
  4. SecuFirm2 mounting system
  5. Compatible with most Intel and AMD sockets

Built on the basis of the legendary NH-D14 and carrying on its quest for ultimate quiet cooling performance, Noctua’s flagship model NH-D15 is an elite-class dual tower cooler for the highest demands. Its expanded heatpipe layout and two premium grade NF-A15 140mm fans with PWM support for automatic speed control allow it to further improve the NH-D14’s award-winning efficiency. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound and full six years manufacturer’s warranty, the NH-D15 forms a complete premium quality solution that represents a deluxe choice for overclockers and silent-enthusiasts alike.

Based on the award-winning NH-D14

Noctua’s NH-D14 has received more than 350 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines, making it one of the most successful premium heatsinks ever built. With its expanded layout and dual NF-A15 fans, the NH-D15 further improves the D14’s much acclaimed quiet cooling performance.

Six heatpipe dual tower design

As compared to conventional single tower heatsinks, the NH-D15’s fine-tuned six heatpipe dual tower design provides more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency in dual fan mode.

Widened fin stack and expanded heatpipe layout

Compared to the NH-D14, the NH-D15’s fin-stack has been widened from 140 to 150mm and its heatpipes are now spaced further apart, which allows for a more uniform heat distribution over a larger surface area and thus contributes to the NH-D15’s superior efficiency.

High RAM compatibility in single fan mode

Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high end RAM modules on the market. In dual fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard height RAM (up to 32mm). Please note: In chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm.

Dual NF-A15 140mm fans

The NH-D15 features two of Noctua’s premium class NF-A15 140mm fans. Complying with Noctua’s AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market.

PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor

The NF-A15 premium fans supplied with the NH-D15 support PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.

Excellent component cooling

Extending below the fin-stacks, the large NF-A15 fans not only contribute to the NH-D15’s superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provide massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.

SecuFirm2 mounting system

Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011, LGA2066 and AMD (AM4 (since 2019), AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, FM2(+)), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D15 guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Compatibility with past and future sockets

Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-D15 can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.

NT-H1 thermal compound

Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua’s NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

Features six year warranty

Noctua products are renowned for their impeccable quality and outstanding longevity. Like all Noctua fans, the supplied NF-A15’s feature an MTBF rating of more than 150.000 hours and the entire NH-D15 package comes with a full 6 years manufacturer’s warranty.

Reviews

  • Bit-tech.net

We really can’t fault it, other than maybe it’s bulky size, but even then its only 165mm high and has options as far as RAM compatibility goes. It’s also remarkably easy to install for such a big cooler. So, despite a lofty price tag, this is one awesome cooler that both performs admirably and won’t make your ears bleed - far from it. With Noctua’s awesome packaging and build quality on hand too, we have no qualms giving top marks.

  • Hexus.net

The NH-D15 is both a worthy flagship and a satisfying successor to the highly-regarded NH-D14. Despite its gargantuan size, this towering chunk of metal is refreshingly easy to install, it delivers a level of cooling performance that’s on par, if not better, than today’s closed-loop liquid coolers, and it’s designed to make the least amount of noise possible.

  • Overclock3D.net

It goes without saying that the D15 gets the pure performance award. Yes there are AIOs out there that perform better, but for an air cooler to perform this well is nothing short of remarkable. Watch the Youtube review here.

Super quiet and super effective cooling

,

I’ve used several Noctua fans before, but this cooler was to replace an ineffective and noisy Zalman.

First impressions of the cooler are impressive. The box is broken down into neat smaller boxes each with the necessary components for AMD or Intel processors. The instructions are clear and concise with no room for ambiguity.

With this cooler I ended up using one of the two supplied fans because although the heatsink cleared the Ripjaws RAM, fitting the second fan wasn’t possible. I also had to remove two 140mm from the top of my case to accommodate the NH-D15. In short, it’s massive. But effective, very effective. Not only that, but quiet and barely audible.

In summary, the NH-D15 is worth every penny, but beware the sheer size of the thing and check your case and the Noctua website for full compatibility.

COOL, Quiet and Large

,

After much deliberation on a CPU cooler for my system update I went for NH-D15 as it just has too many great reviews.

It is excellent, everything that the reviews say – well worth the money

My Build is Intel i5 4690K OC 4.5 @1.23v, AS Rock Z97 Extreme6, 16Gb G.Skill 1866 RipjawsX, Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 I have the fans speeds set in the UEFI to be quiet up to 50C and ramping up to full speed at 60C The PC is whisper quiet in normal operation and only becomes noticeable if stressed with OCCT and then temperatures still stay below 70C with a 4.5Ghz overclock. I am very pleased the temperatures - never gets above mid 50s in normal use. Idle is a few degrees above my office temperature (mid 20s to low 30s).

The mounting bracket and heatsink are very easy to fit – fan installs tricky if you don’t have much space (see below). My memory did not cause any problems but anyone with tall memory could have height problems unless they have a large case.

Overall it’s a fantastic cooler and well worth the extra

Some Notes: 1 – The Nanoxia DS 1 cut-out does not match well with a 1150 board and the motherboard needs to be removed to fit the fan mount. 2 – Fit your fan Y-cable cable and 8-pin power cable before fitting the heatsink 3 – Fitting the fan clips can be difficult as the space is limited at the top of the case and my fingers are large. I improvised a hook out of thick gauge wire to pull the mounting clip fully back. 4 – If you have a wide GPU check that it won’t foul the heatsink 5 – My first PCIe 1X slot is covered by the heatsink

A great cooler

,

A remarkably well made and brilliantly designed cooler.

My i5 3570k now idles at 20°C and sits at 40°C under full load. All whilst remaining inaudible.

Clear instructions and very easy to fit despite its size.

Highly recommended.
